Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition is a refreshed version of the classic adventure game Simon the Sorcerer II: The Lion, the Wizard and the Wardrobe. The original game was developed by Adventure Soft and the new edition was developed by MojoTouch.
Plot
The developers didn’t introduce any changes to game’s scenario. After defeating the evil wizard Sordid, the young mage Simon left the fantasy realm. He returned home, to the modern world. However, many months later the villain is resurrected by another naive boy who wanted to learn the secrets of magic.
Sordid rebuilds his power. Filled with a need for revenge, he sends a magic closet that kidnaps Simon back to the fantasy realm. Luckily for Simon, the magic artifact becomes damaged during the journey and instead of landing at the feet of the evil wizard, Simon is taken to the good mage Calypso whom he saved in the first game.
The protagonist must find a way to defeat Sordid for good and he must find a magic fuel that powers the closet. It’s his only chance of going back home.
Mechanics
Simon the Sorcerer: 25th Anniversary Edition is a classic adventure game. The players are tasked with exploring locations, participating in conversations, gathering items and solving riddles.
Compared to the first entry in the series, the game features a simplified control scheme, based on icons and less available actions.
Technical aspects
Compared to the original game, Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition features some technical improvements. The developers changed icons to new ones and added an option to scale the screen. Thanks to that, the game looks better on high-resolution screens. Controls and the quality of sound were improved as well.
Traditionalists can activate the retro mode and play the game with original graphics, music, and controls.
