Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is a jRPG with an anime style reminding of films made by Ghibli studio. We play as captain Glenn Windwalker, using an airship to travel between the sky islands, leading a group of characters and taking part in turn-based battles.
Similar to Skies of Arcadia and jRPG genre classics, Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is the work of Chilean Octeto Studios and allows us to command a ship's crew in a world styled after Japanese animations.
The action in Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire takes place after a cataclysm that shattered the planet's surface, throwing pieces of land into the sky and destroying most of civilization. Remnants of the globe still exist in the atmosphere, where humanity formed new tribes and adapted to life in the sky.
As Captain Glenn Windwalker, we command a crew of a ship and fight the hostile Alliance wanting to take over the sky islands.
In Sky Oceans we lead a team of several people, manage its resources and travel through the post-apocalyptic world, fighting turn-based battles in the style of Persona. Tactical combat, as well as travel, takes place in the open sky using an airship.
As the plot progresses we upgrade our ship with additional abilities, increasing the offensive and defensive power of the crew with accessory weapons, and expanding the group with new . Each of them has their own character traits and opinions about the choices we make.
We also use special skills outside of battles to heal the crew and to fly faster. Apart from fulfilling orders, in Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire we discover new cultures and cities, as well as conduct trade and conversations with NPCs living in diverse environments. By helping them solve local problems, we gain their and loyalty.
Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire features cartoon graphics reminiscent of films by Japanese studio Ghibli. The music was composed by Matias Castro Cancino.
