The sequel to a humorous FPP adventure game, in which we play as a talented graffiti artist named Ghost. The protagonist heads out to find his friend, Big Mud, after his mysterious disappearance.
Sludge Life 2 is a humorous first-person adventure game and a sequel to the graffiti simulator from 2020, which originally debuted on PC, later on receiving a Switch release. Just like its predecessor, it was developed by Adam "Doseone" Drucker and Terri Vellman - this time working alongside Kid Ciggy. The game was published by Devolver Digital.
Sludge Life 2 is set some time after the events of the first game. The player character is, once again, Ghost, a talented graffiti artist. His friend - Big Mud, a humanoid frog - has unexpectedly disappeared. Suspecting one of Slimetown's reigning corporations, Ghost heads out to find him.
The game makes use of the first-person perspective (FPP). Aside from its new storyline, Sludge Life 2 is more of the same - more tags to paint, more NPCs to meet (which there are to be three times as many compared to the first game), more tracks to listen to, etc. During our exploration of Slimetown we gradually uncover the truth behind Big Mud's disappearance.
The game also includes a range of optional activities, such as taking photos or playing basketball with Ghost's friends. The roster of gadgets used to traverse the city has been expanded with items such as Double Js (granting double jumps and a faster run speed) and the Portable Launcher (lets the player launch themselves high into the air).
Just like the first Sludge Life, the sequel only s singleplayers. The playable area, however, has been significantly expanded, with the game offering several more hours of content. Its cartoonish graphics and sense of humor make the experience much more enjoyable.

Sludge Life 2 is basically Sludge Life, just on a new map. Were the original a good game, or even a able game, I’d understand its appeal. But that’s not the the case. The original Sludge Life was a dour and pointless adventure game drowned in tryhard imagery and completely devoid of charisma… and the sequel is just that. Again. No fixes to visuals, controls, glitches, a dull gameplay loop, nothing. You are simply getting more of what you (don’t) love.

The vibes in Sludge Life 2 are immaculate and grimy, but like before I just wish it fleshed itself out some more.

With a sickly world, interesting NPCs, and some truly gruesome humour, Sludge Life 2 succeeds at many of the things it tries. In my short time with the game, I was regularly grossed out and intrigued by everything in front of me. Though it will only take you a short time and not all of its risks pay off, it follows up the first game with a rewarding sequel – even if it starts to feel a bit shallow.
