Soda Crisis is an action platformer, bringing the very warmly received My Friend Pedro to mind. The game was developed by Team Soda and published by bilibili.
Soda Crisis takes place in a world facing a massive disaster. Due to an alien invastion, the world's soda reserves have been lost. The game's protagonist decides to challenge the invaders and recover the soda supplies, saving the Earth before it is too late.
Soda Crisis is a side-scroller. The player traverses various locations, jumps across platforms, avoids obstacles and traps, runs on walls and swings across pits with a grappling hook. On the way, you will face hordes of armed, soda-thirsty opponents, fighting them with melee weapons and numerous guns. Aside from generic foes, the player will also face powerful bosses, needing to uncover their weak spots and apply unique strategies. Progressing through the game rewards you with more diverse gear and upgrades to already-owned equipment.
The gameplay is very dynamic, requiring constant movement from the player (both during exploration and combat), as well as considerable dexterity and reflexes. All this makes the game quite a challenge. Nevertheless, the protagonist respawns immediately after death, letting him quickly throw himself back into the fray. The game isn't very long, taking about 4 hours to complete. After the end credits, the player can try out the speedrun mode or the bonus level, in which our hero is armed only with... an umbrella.
The artsyle of Soda Crisis is colorful, cartoonish and easily readable. The game features a fast-paced, electronic soundtrack.

If you’re a fan of puzzle platform shooters, you can’t go wrong with Soda Crisis. The game simply does everything wonderfully. From the atmosphere, to the visuals, to the fast-paced and varied gameplay, you can tell Soda Crisis was made with ion, and I expect that same ion to be reflected by the game’s player base.

Soda Crisis has all the makings of an epic, modern tribute to some classic action side scrollers like Metal Slug. Instead of building a bigger, badder experience, you will get some slick controls and high octane combat smushed into tiny levels that never work together to build a larger picture. Soda crisis is just a series of mini levels, no better than the likes of Angry Birds but is presented with the guise of a fully fleshed-out action-adventure. Once you get stuck into the meat, you will find there is very little on offer here after the first 30 minutes.

If you're a fan of puzzle shooters, you can't go wrong with Soda Crisis. The game does just fine.
