Sonic the Hedgehog is the first installment of a popular series of platformers starring Sonic, a blue hedgehog which is the official mascot of the Japanese company SEGA. The game was originally released in 1991 on the SEGA Mega Drive console, quickly becoming one of the best-selling titles for this platform and the most recognizable representatives of the genre. Later, the game was also ported to other platforms, including PS3, PC, etc.
The plot of Sonic the Hedgehog is extremely simple, it serves an excuse to travel through increasingly challenging levels. The evil Doctor Eggman kidnapped the animals and friends of the main character, turning them into robots or locking them in well-guarded cages. Sonic sets off on a journey to free the Doctor's victims.
Sonic the Hedgehog for PS3, PC, etc. is a typical two-dimensional platformer, distinguished by the presence of many paths leading to the destination. Some of them require a lot of skill and perceptiveness to reach them. During the game, we travel through six different worlds, each of which is divided into three acts/levels.
The main advantage, but at the same time, the disadvantage of Sonic is the enormous speed at which he can move. Full control over the hedgehog's moves while he travells at full speed is possible only for experienced players. There are gold rings scattered on each level, which not only increase our score but also unlock new lives and hidden locations. At the end of a given world, we face one of several machines controlled by Eggman.
