Space Ace is another arcade game, which was created by Don Bluth and Cienamtronics. The game was created in 1984 for arcades, and four years later it was released on PC, Commodore Amiga and Atari ST. The conversion of the title into consoles was undertaken by Digital Leisure, which had already had worked on ports for the first and second installments of the Dragon's Lair series.

Plot

The greatest defender in the history of the Earth - the Cosmic Ace - is facing a new challenge. An angry and cunning commander Borf, taking advantage of the hero's inattention, decides to kidnap his girlfriend Kimberley. Ace's greatest enemy has a powerful weapon that turns enemies into children. Having no way out, our hero decides to save his beloved and get rid of the unbearable Borf once and for all.

Mechanics

The game was realized in the same form as Dragon's Lair games. We observe an animated film divided into successive scenes. By pressing the appropriate keys, we are able to avoid danger and move the action forward. The game is hampered by the fact that the Cosmic Ace has only a few lives. The player must be extremely fast in making subsequent decisions - the wrong move in each episode ends with immediate death.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of Space Ace is no different from the one that delighted players in the mid-1980s. We are still dealing with combined fragments of hand-drawn animated film.
