Spark the Electric Jester is an old-school, two-dimensional platformer, whose gameplay evokes associations with the popular Sega series - Sonic the Hedgehog - and other games from the era of 16-bit consoles. The game is very dynamic and features pleasant pixel art design. The title was created by collecting money on Kickstarter, during which more than 9 thousand dollars were collected. Independent studio Feperd Games is responsible for its creation and release, and it is the team's debut project.

Plot

The player takes on the role of the title character anmed Jester - an electric jester who lost his job as a result of robots taking over the world. The hero decides to take revenge and embarks on a journey full of adventures and dangerous challenges.

Mechanics

Spark the Electric Jester is a classic two-dimensional platformer. Watching the hero from the side - from a side-scrolling perspective - the player traveerses levels, jumping on platforms and getting past obstacles and opponents. The latter can also be fought with the use of various attacks and items, e.g. a hammer or sai daggers. The combat is not the main attraction here, however, but only an addition - the only enemies we really have to face are the powerful bosses waiting at the end of some levels.

Jester is a very quick character, which makes the gameplay really fast. Additionally, after accelerating we can run on walls or ceiling. But be careful - if you lose the momentum, your adventure may end tragically.

As the game progresses, we gradually acquire new powers and skills (e.g. double jumping, fireball, and even flying), which make our hero progressively stronger. His appearance is also changing - the creators have prepared a number of different, often funny costumes, characterized by a different style and color scheme.

Game modes

Spark the Electric Jester offers only single player mode. The creators did not prepare any multiplayer mode. It's worth noting, however, that the first completion of the game unlocks the second, more difficult mode of challenge - after its launch, the design of some maps change (sometimes there are also additional bosses waiting for us), and our hero has noticeably less health.

Technical aspects

Spark the Electric Jester features pleasant two-dimensional graphic design. The visuals adopt the so-called pixelart style - that is, imitating classic 2D games from the 90s of the last century (through deliberately low resolution of the image and/or clearly visible pixels). The artistic style of the game is dominated by expressive, pastel colors. The game is accompanied by a pleasant, dynamic soundtrack.
