3D platforme game created by Insomniac Games, which two years earlier debuted with the first-person shooter Disruptor. The title tells the story of a small dragon, who sets out to save his older brothers. As part of the adventure, he has to overcome a number of arcade and logic challenges.
During an interview for an information program, a group of dragons from the land of Artisan, one of the five worlds that make up the Kingdom of Dragons, ridicules Gnasty Gnorc's half-gnome, half-orc. Enraged, the creature decides to punish them for their pride and turns all dragons in crystals with a magical spell. Only the small Spyro, due to his small size, avoids the fate of his brethren. The hero, with the help of Sparx the dragonfly, sets out to save his brothers and sisters. During his journey, he has to defeat Gnasty's numerous henchmen and prevent the theft of dragon eggs.
Spyro the Dragon is a classic 3D platform game where the players have to face numerous arcade challenges and occasional logic riddles. The title character visits several lands where he tries to free his imprisoned friends, collect colorful jewels or capture dragon egg thieves. The little hero has two attacks at his disposal - breathing fire and charging. The players must skillfully match the opponents they meet, as the fight requires the development of different strategies. Collecting all the items and completing a set of tasks unlocks an extra level in the game and enables us to see the hidden ending.
The title is distinguished by its colorful audio-visual setting, cartoonish style and a great deal of humor. The fact that it is also devoid of brutality and has a well-balanced level of difficulty makes it a very good choice for younger players.
