Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – The Sith Lords for PC and XBX is the second game in the brilliant series of RPGs by BioWare. However, it was developed by a different team, namely Obsidian Entertainment, a partner of the former.

Plot

The action of The Sith Lords starts five years after the events of the original Knights of the Old Republic. Its story is not a direct continuation of its predecessor (which results in the inability to import your character). The players assume the role of the last knight of Jedi, a veteran of Mandalorian Wars who comes back to the Republic which was devastated by a war between Jedis of the dark and bright side of the Force. As a result, the Jedi Order was dissolved and the galaxy plunged into chaos. As you might guess, the protagonist has to restore the Order and the former orderliness.

RPG Codex forum s have noticed some interesting activity of Aspyr Media. The studio from Texas is actively recruiting new people to work on a big RPG. Combined with the fact that it employs quite a few BioWare veterans, speculation has arisen that this is the team responsible for creating Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 (or a remake of one of the previous installments).

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, is more of the same in of the gameplay but provides an excellent story that is sure to please fans of Star Wars or just fans of sci-fi RPGs in general. If you loved the first game this is an easy recommendation. If you’re new, play the first game and if it clicks jump on this one. At this stage, the game does have bugs that Aspyr is busy working away fixing. Maybe consider waiting for the free DLC which is on the way and will add extra content. But if you need that RPG fix this is still playable. KOTOR 2 is a gem of a game that has found a welcome home on Nintendo Switch. The force is certainly strong with this one.

God is a Geek: 9 / 10 by Lyle Carr

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a fantastic RPG, and is simply a joy to play on the Switch.

Kotaku: by Sisi Jiang

Near the end of the game, I had a private conversation with one of my party , Disciple. He was a former Jedi trainee who metaphorically worshiped the Exile. My character opened up about how guilty they felt about leading others into a galactic space war, and expressed doubts as to whether the party had followed of their own free will. Disciple didn’t wholly convince me that he was totally unaffected by the Exile’s Force sensitivity, but in 2004 it felt transgressive for KotOR 2 to interrogate the ethics of RPG protagonism. It still feels relevant in 2022, when even the most ambitious, story-rich games can’t seem to avoid centering themselves around the player. What a very important person they must be.
