A continuation of a great hit from 1993, made practically in the same pattern: we watch a long film, which is occasionally interrupted by arcade inserts. Noteworthy is the fact that for the first time since "The Return of the Jedi", George Lucas label decided to shoot premiere video scenes.
Prepared by LucasArts studio, Rebel Assault II is a representative of the genre of rail shooters, which was fashionable in the first half of the 1990s. The production resembles an interactive film filled with inserts testing the dexterity of the viewer.
The young pilot Rookie One accidentally gains information about the latest weapon of the Empire with which Darth Vader plans to defeat Rebellion. The design of invisible fighters requires immediate action. The brave hero is thus assigned a number of dangerous missions, the ultimate goal of which is to destroy a factory producing vehicles equipped with optical camouflage technology.
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II - The Hidden Empire is an interactive film with the participation of real actors, in which a dozen or so chapters containing one of several types of arcade sequences await the player. Some allow you to steer one of the cult spacecraft and shoot at emerging targets. Others require the elimination of enemy soldiers in a variety of target sight complexes, while others resemble a racing game with a TPP view or a simplified FPS in which mobility is reduced to a minimum. The game is characterized by a very high level of difficulty, which is supposed to prevent the rapid completion of the adventure.
LucasArts' production combines 3D rendered backgrounds with superimposed characters played by actors. The title draws heavily on the universe of Star Wars, so you'll see film characters and machines on the screen, and familiar music motifs and sound effects can be heard in the background. Jamison Jones plays Rookie One.
