FPP arcade action game, prepared for VR headsets. In Stride we play the role of a freerunner who flies across the roofs and interiors of skyscrapers, completing the tasks set before him and avoiding or eliminating snipers lurking about.
Stride is an arcade action game, clearly inspired by the Mirror's Edge series. It was developed by the Joy Way studio for virtual reality sets.
Stride takes us on a journey to a futuristic metropolis, where we take on the role of various freerunners who dash across the rooftops of skyscrapers, dodging and eliminating snipers. In the story mode added after the game's release, we learn the history of the city, gradually discovering more and more about why it is teeming with villains, and what needs to be done to get rid of them.
In Stride, we observe the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We jump on the roofs of skyscrapers (grabbing the edges if necessary), swing on rods, slide down cables stretched between buildings, slide on flat surfaces, and break through windows into the interiors of buildings. All this happens fast, and the pace of the game is further increased by snipers set up on rooftops, whom we have to avoid or eliminate with a gun.
Stride has a number of single or multiplayer game modes. The infinity mode, where we speed through procedurally generated locations, trying to get as far as possible, is waiting to be tested; the matter is complicated by the fact that the world behind us disintegrates, so we can't turn back. In addition, the game implements a time trial mode, in which we try to reach the end of a stage as quickly as possible to boast the best possible result in the online ranking, as well as an arena mode, where we are thrown into a vast "playground" and are given a variety of tasks to complete (such as getting a certain item, staying hidden or eliminating all enemies).
Graphics in Stride is made in an eye-pleasing, "sterile" style reminding us of the Mirror's Edge series; its color palette is dominated by white, and other colors are only accents that diversify the whole.
