Sword of the Necromancer is a dungeon crawler with elements of a roguelike, in which we play the hero who intends to fight a sinister necromancer and bring back to life his dead beloved. Before he can do this, however, the protagonist has to travel through vast underground areas and confront enemy troops.
Sword of the Necromancer is a dungeon crawler enriched with roguelike elements. The game was developed by the independent studio Grimorio of Games.
Sword of the Necromancer takes us to a fantasy world. The main character of the game is a warrior named Tama, who lost his beloved - Koko. The protagonist decides venture deep into the dark dungeons to kill the sinister necromancer and, with the power thus acquired, bring his beloved back to life.
The action in Sword of the Necromancer is shown from bird's eye view. We explore the procedurally generated dungeons and engage in dynamic battle;in addition to standard opponents, we also have to face powerful bosses. We use a variety of weapons in combat, including the eponymous sword, which enables us to resurrect our slaughtered adversaries to fight alongside us. As we progress, we gain more and more powerful equipment; in addition, we gain experience points and level up, improving protagonist's stats.
In contrast to classic roguelikes, the game does not feature permadeath mechanics. Yes, after death we lose all the equipment we have gained, but we keep half the experience points we have acquired. In addition, at certain moments we can leave the dungeon, although by doing this we will lose all gained EXP (although in this case we keep all our equipment).
Sword of the Nemcromancer features simple two-dimensional pixel-art graphics.

Sword of the Necromancer is by no means a perfect game, but it's still enjoyable with a few issues here and there. Tama never feels like she's getting stronger and the monsters you summon are hit and miss as to whether they'll actually be effective in a fight or just randomly run around the room going nowhere near where you want them to. The bosses are also hit and miss when it comes to those that require strategy and those that just have you run away for a bit before getting in one or two hits and repeating. However, the story is great and well voice-acted and the soundtrack has a lot of nice tracks to listen to.
