A coop hack'n'slash action game with additional roguelike elements, developed by the independent studio Paper Cult. Tears of Metal focuses on dynamic melee combat, playing as part of the Scottish battalion. We go against hordes of enemies with the mission to retake the lost island.

Tears of Metal is a third-person action game that combines dynamic slasher combat with roguelite elements. The game takes us to medieval Scotland. With each skirmish we regain more parts of the island, while uncovering the secrets of the mysterious Dragon Meteorite. The game was produced by the Canadian independent studio Paper Cult, which previously created Bloodroots.

Gameplay

In Tears of Metal we focus on brutal clashes with numerous opponents, while developing our skills and equipment.

We have a choice of many heroes, each with unique abilities and spectacular attacks. We can use them to wreak havoc on the front line. Additionally, by completing special challenges, we discover numerous secrets and treasures. They allow for unlocking new artifacts, characters, appearances, and unique combinations of enhancements, which will give us an advantage in the future.

With each subsequent expedition, our army becomes stronger - allies gain lasting skills that help in subsequent battles. We also have the opportunity to hire new companions and upgrade them.

We spend gold and points earned between fights to expand our settlement, gaining access to new shops, permanent upgrades, and more difficult challenges that offer greater rewards.

Game modes

Tears of Metal offers both single-player mode and full cooperation for four players. Regardless of the chosen mode, each session is an intense struggle for survival and liberation of the occupied island. In cooperative mode, we each other in the fight, sharing acquired artifacts and planning a common strategy.
