Terra Battle 2 is the second installment in the jRPG series developed by Mistwalker. The company has been established by Hironobu Sakaguchi – the legend of the video game industry and the creator of the Final Fantasy series. Among other platforms, the game is available on PC, AND and iOS and is based on a free-to-play business model with optional microtransactions.
Just like games from the Final Fantasy series, Terra Battle 2 is not a direct continuation of its predecessor. The game takes players to an entirely new fantasy world. The fate of this realm hangs by the thread as the dark creatures previously turned to stone are brought back to life. A player assumes control over a group of heroes who set off on an adventure to stop the threat and restore the order all over the world.
The PC, AND and iOS release of Terra Battle 2 builds on mechanics known from the first installment. The gameplay revolves around exploring vast maps and fighting numerous foes. The battles feature a turn-based system in which players move around the map (covered with a tactical grid) tokens representing particular heroes.
This time around, players get at their disposal a wider range of battle strategies, including the ability to set a fighting formation before the battle itself. A key to success lies in the proper utilization of the characters’ individual abilities and combining them in spectacular sequences. Of course, the game also features the character development mechanics, yet again based on the profession system.
Terra Battle 2 delivers visuals that will surely satisfy many players – like the previous installment, the game features manga aesthetics. In addition, the atmospheric soundtrack deserves recognition – it has been written by Nobuo Uematsu, a Japanese composer known for writing soundtracks for all the installments in the Final Fantasy series.
