The Bookwalker is an original adventure game in which we play as a character who travels between physical reality and the worlds described in books. Game was developed by independent studio Do My Best and was published by tinyBuild.
The main character of The Bookwalker is a writer suffering from lack of creative energy. In order to regain the will to work and start writing again, the protagonist must use his supernatural ability, which allows him to visit the worlds described in the books and steal items appearing in them.
The gameplay in The Bookwalker is based on two pillars. First of them are the visits in physical reality, during which we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). During them we freely explore the protagonist's apartment and look for items that may prove useful during his escapades. The second segment of the game are visits to the fantastic worlds described in the works, during which we watch the events from an isometric view.
We can visit, among others, gloomy dungeons, an abandoned city and the wreck of a spaceship. In each of these places we have to find a particular famous item, like Excalibur or Mjolnir (Thor's hammer). To get them, we have to talk with the characters and solve various puzzles. The latter requires from us perceptiveness and ingenuity, which comes in handy, among other things, when we have to skillfully use everyday items; for example, a fire extinguisher can put out a fire raging in a mansion, while a crowbar can be used to open a locked door.
Graphics of The Bookwalker is kept in a rather gloomy style.

Game Ratings for The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales Video Game.
Lords Of Gaming : 7 / 10 by David Schallert
The Bookwalker especially has some lofty intentions. As a narrative explicitly about the creation and exploitation of stories, it naturally has a lot of pressure on it to say something. But it doesn’t, beyond a milquetoast message of “be nice to people.” I could look past that if it wasn’t for the creative setting or if the gameplay was better. But as it is, it all seems hollow. Despite all this, I still really like The Bookwalker. It may not live up to its potential, but it’s a fascinating concept executed competently. The puzzles are good, even if the RPG and crafting systems seem like little more than an afterthought. The story is sufficient to pull you through, even if it doesn’t have much to say.
Softpedia: 7.5 / 10 by Cosmin Vasile
The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales relies on an intriguing concept, and for the most part is quite enjoyable. The adventure sequences are immersive and motivate you to push forward and discover more. The game becomes even more remarkable if we take into that it has been developed by a team of four people.

Players will find something special here, as the stories told in the overall game and the books you dive into are rich and well written.
