The Crew Motorfest is the informal third installment of The Crew franchise - a series of open-world racing games by Ubisoft and its subsidiary Ivory Tower (founded by former employees of Eden Games, best known from Forza Horizon, therefore it differs slightly in character and scale from its predecessors and doesn't have a numbered title.
Unlike the previous two games, which featured a reconstruction of nearly entire mainland United States, The Crew Motorfest is set on the Hawaiian island of Oahu (racing games enthusiasts should already know it from Test Drive Unlimited). The island is scaled down from real life, though it retains its main attractions, such as the city of Honolulu and the volcanic mountain ranges.
The game takes place during the titular racing festival. Using hundreds of different vehicles the player participates in various competitions, themed events and races. The bulk of those is comprised of sports cars and off-road cars, though there are also planes and boats introduced in The Crew 2.
The Crew Motorfest runs on the same engine as the previous installments. As the game was released on both eigth and ninth generation consoles, the graphics have been substantially improved since The Crew 2. There was also a significant quality increase in of world design - due to Oahu being smaller than the mainland USA, the developers have emphasized diversity among different biomes and filled the world with unique, handmade locations.
