The first expansion to the roguelite tactical RPG from 2023. The Last Spell: Dwarves of Runenberg focuses on controlling the dwarves, as well as defending their Runenberg fortress. New skills, types of weapons and powerful runestones have been made available.
The Last Spell: Dwarves of Runenberg is the first expansion to The Last Spell, a tactical RPG game with roguelike elements, released in March 2023. The expansion was developed by the authors of the original, namely the independent French team Ishtar Games (formerly known as CC).
Mechanics
The Last Spell: Dwarves of Runenberg focuses on the dwarven race and challenges us to defend their fortress, Runenberg, which is the heart of a completely new map.
Our subordinates can use a number of new skills on the battlefield, such as the battle cry (which encourages other soldiers to fight) or even the escape tunnel (allowing them to leave the arena in one piece when things don't go their way). In addition, dwarf soldiers can use previously unavailable types of weapons, such as a battle shield (protecting them from blows), a cannon (sowing panic in the enemy ranks), and a gauntlet (allowing them to throw heavy objects).
The expansion introduces the mechanic of using rune stones, the proper placement of which provides us with various bonuses. New types of accessories are also available to the dwarves. When combined with other pieces of equipment, they can provide additional options- from punching an adversary who managed to avoid an attack, through various bonuses, to launching deafening attacks.
Technical aspects
The Last Spell: Dwarves of Runenberg is a non-standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of The Last Spell to run.
