A survival sneakdown set in a procedurally generated, postapocalyptic world, in which we must avoid with aggressive watchdogs crossing the surface of the Earth. The authors of the title are the creators of Sir, You Are Being Hunted and The Signal From Tolva.
The Light Keeps Us Safe is a survival stealth game which takes place in a post-apocalyptic world covered in darkness. The game was developed by Big Robot, an independent studio which debuted in 2013 with a well-received humorous survival game The Signal From Tolva, set on a foreign planet where players fought with combat robots.
The Light Keeps Us Safe takes place in the near future, in which an inexplicable catastrophe has fallen to Earth. The world is covered in eternal night, and the surface of the slowly dying planet is patrolled by aggressive machines. We play as one of the survivors; after escaping from an increasingly insecure bunker, we try to reach a mysterious place - or creature - called The Light, which attracts people who are still alive.
The Light Keeps Us Safe throws us on a large, open and procedurally generated map, which we observe from the first-person perspective. The world is full of hostile machines and traps. Our task is to survive in this unfavorable environment and to reach the target by sneaking and avoiding with enemies. During this adventure, which is slightly different each time, we can count on unique interactions with the environment based on light manipulation, as well as encounters with machines that require us to think on how we want to win them. It is worth mentioning that unlike many other productions of the genre, The Light Keeps Us Safe is devoid of any crafting mechanics.
Three-dimensional graphic design of the game is based on the use of different colored rays of light, which contrast with the darkness around us.
