Plot

The action of The Long Reach kicks off right after an outbreak of a mysterious plague that transforms people into bloodthirsty psychos. During the campaign, you can experience these events from the point of view of the playable characters. The whole story consists of five episodes, and the decisions made in particular ones shape further story. Ultimately, your decisions and actions lead to one of two endings.

Published on PC, PSV and etc., The Long Reach is an unusual adventure. The authors decided to introduce puzzles that chase you in order to kill. This means that each maniac poses a unique, logical challenge. You need to figure out how to neutralise all the dangers. The player-characters are weak when it comes to open combat, therefore your brains are your main weapon. To succeed, you have to create ingenious traps, find shelters, and discover effective ways of distracting opponents.

While doing so, the living and aggressive puzzles are constantly trying to kill you. In contrast to typical adventure games, time limit is a thing here. You can feel the pressure all the time, and quick reaction is sometimes equally useful as cleverness. Thorough exploration results in finding reasons for an enemy’s madness and the ways to neutralise it. This is important, as each opponent requires a different approach.

Technical aspects

The Long Reach features a retro style. Items and characters are pixelated, yet the engine is capable of generating modern visual effects, which combined result in an attractive production.
