The Mysterious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is an adventure game produced by the German dots studio addressed to a wide range of customers from the so-called casual market. The player takes on the role of Inspector of Scotland Yard and travels through the corners of nineteenth-century London in search of the perpetrator of the bestial murder of Sir Danvers Careva.
The Mysterious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, released on PC and NDS, is another attempt to transfer classical science fiction literature into the world of video games. |The game, developed by dots studio, is directed towards a mass audience from the casual market (occasional players).
The plot of the game loosely refers to the plot of the famous Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. The action takes place in 1886. The Londoners are terrified by the brutal murder of a parliamentarian called Sir Danvers Carew. Scotland Yard commissions its best officer to take care of the case and capture a beast that allegedly roams the streets of Victorian England.
The player must collect clues that will guide them to the murderer's trail. This requires visiting a variety of places and looking for objects cleverly hidden on the screen. The fun is enriched by puzzles in the form of logical mini-games. Individual puzzles are not difficult, and in addition, you can use the system of hints.
The Mysterious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has an aesthetically pleasing, though somewhat poor visual design. Hand-made illustrations of the sceneries are not too detailed, but they blend in well with the atmosphere of the horror story.
