A trading strategy which takes place in the late Middle Ages. As a young merchant, representing one of the 16 cities of the Hanseatic League, we develop our own retail network in Northern Europe, buying and selling a variety of goods and utility goods. We must also take care of the safety of our fleet, which is vulnerable to attacks from pirates.
The Patrician is an extensive economic strategy, allowing players to play the role of a medieval merchant and contribute to the development of one of the cities belonging to the Hanseatic League. The creator of the game is a young German studio Ascon GmbH.
The action of the game takes us to Northern Europe in the late Middle Ages, where the most important trade organization was the so-called Hanseatic League. This specific trade union, which brought together around 160 cities at its peak, relied on mutual economic in order to make work more difficult for merchants from other parts of the old continent. The Hanseatic League, to which the main trade centres of , Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands belonged, was not only a serious economic power, but also a political and sometimes even military one.
The player's task is to build their own commercial network, including sixteen port cities from the North and East Sea basin. The main source of our income is, of course, trade in various goods and goods. Different cities have different demand for raw materials, which allows us to buy goods at a lower price and sell at a higher price. For the money we earn we can buy more ships (4 different types) and shops. Since our fleet is vulnerable to attacks from naval pirates, we also have to use some of the money to buy weapons. The aim of our activities is to contribute to a significant economic development of our hometown, for which we will be rewarded with the position of its governor.
The Patrician is characterized by detailed and eye-catching graphics and a medieval style soundtrack. The CD-ROM version has an improved layout, which translates into increased hardware requirements of the game.
