Release Date: September 25, 2007
The sixth major installment in the highly popular series of economical strategies started in 1993 by Blue Byte. After the very innovative fifth installment, the developers decided to go back to the good old solutions and only improve them with some new features. The general premise of the game hasn’t changed - the player is still tasked with controlling a small village and transforming it into a modern, well-fortified metropolis.
The Settlers: Rise of an Empire is another installment in a highly popular strategy game series first released in 1993 by Blue Byte Software. After a poorly received Heritage of Kings, the previous game, the German developer decided to go back to the good old convention adding a grain of innovations.
The game’s main purpose is to manage a medieval town, which starts as a small village and grows into a large, well fortified metropolis. First, you get to select your hero, whose unique abilities your settlers. A nice example is the merchant, whose singing can help the settlers put their daily problems aside for a moment, thus increasing their morale.
Just as in previous games of the series, The Settlers: Rise of an Empire also requires you to collect resources essential to development of your village. Materials need to be transported by carriers, although you cannot manually designate their routes. The game decides where to create a road considering the traffic. Lack of geologists is a simplification as compared to previous games. Resources are detectable right away and you can excavate them as you please.

Strategy
An official expansion for the sixth installment in the popular economy simulation series by Blue Byte Software, entitled The Settlers: Rise of an Empire. The action of The Eastern Realm takes places after the events of the vanilla game, when our nation’s key trade route becomes blocked. It quickly turns out that the eastern provinces of the kingdom are in grave danger and our military intervention is inevitable. Apart from a new story campaign, consisting of eight extensive missions, the expansion introduces a number of novelties and enhancements such as reworked geologists, new options of developing and beautifying our towns and villages as well as partial, optional trade automatization. Moreover, in the game, we will once again visit the exotic climatic zone of the distant India. Therefore, we can experience its rainy season that temporarily hinders acquisition and transportation of raw materials.
