The Song of Seven is a fable-fantastic third person point-and-click adventure game, released in form of stand-alone episodes which form up one extensive story. The title was released on PS4, PC and WiiU, and the independent, American studio Enlightened Games is responsible for its creation. The development of the first episode was ed by a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Plot
The plot of The Song of Seven has been set in a fantasy world of Pria, inhabited by fantastic races and original creatures. The main character is a boy named Kiba, who enters the adult life with a great task, requiring great courage and sacrifice. The myth of a dark power threatening the world turns out to be true, and the evil slowly casts a shadow over the whole land. To face it, a simple, country boy has to leave his village and go on a journey to the remote parts of Pria, where, by using his talents and creating numerous alliances with encountered characters, he saves his compatriots from doom.
Mechanics
The Enlightened Games production draws extensively from classic point-and-click games. At the same time, The Song of Seven offers a modern approach to the genre, introducing a fully three-dimensional environment, third-person perspective, and analog control system, which greatly increases immersion in the game’s world. As befits an adventure game, during the gameplay we mainly explore and solve logical, or music riddles. Nevertheless, important aspects of the game are the extensive dialogue sequences, which further reveal the secrets of the plot. A number of skills are gained during the gameplay, which are useful during solving riddles.
Technical Aspects
The graphical layer of the released on PS4, PC and WiiU The Song of Seven was created using the Unity graphical engine, very popular among independent authors. The graphics are not extremely detailed, but thanks to remarkably colorful, cartoon style, fit perfectly with the fable atmosphere of the game.
