The Wandering Village is an economic strategy in which we are building a settlement on the back of a giant beast that is slowly crossing the world. While playing, we need to create a symbiotic relationship with this creature in order to satisfy both its and our subordinates' needs.

The Wandering Village is an unusual fantasy economic strategy. The project was developed by the Stray Fawn Studio team, known for such games as Niche - a genetics survival game.

Plot

The game is taking place in a world that is on the brink of extinction. The reason for this is the emergence of a new type of plant from which spores deadly to mankind are extracted. We take command over a group of settlers who invent an unusual way to survive - they settle on the back of a giant beast called Onbu. In this way, they can live at heights where the spores cannot reach.

The survivors and the beast begin a long journey, hoping to reach a place where there are no dangerous plants and start a new life there.

Mechanics

The Wandering Village is a real-time economic strategy in which the player's basic responsibilities are mostly characteristic of this genre. So while we are playing, we have to expand the village, plant and harvest crops and go on expeditions in search of resources.

But all these things are happening on the back of the beast. We must therefore manage the settlement sparingly, so as not to over-exploit the creature, because then it may collapse, leading to our extermination. We must take care of the needs of this creature as well as those of our subordinates. The key to success is the establishment of a symbiotic relationship with Onbu, from which both sides will benefit.

During the game, we have limited possibilities to give commands to the beast. Moreover, during the journey, the creature moves through different regions of the world. Each of them has different conditions and challenges that affect the course of the game.

The spores of deadly plants are a constant threat. From time to time they manage to get to the back of Onbu. We then have to burn them out precisely before they can multiply and infect large areas of land.
