The War of the Worlds: Siberia is an action-adventure game based on the novel The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. The game was developed by the Russian team 1C Game Studios, which has in its portfolio such projects as IL-2 Sturmovik brand.

Story

The War of the Worlds: Siberia presents an alternative version of 1896, in which the Earth was invaded by Martians. The game takes us to Russia, specifically to St. Petersburg, where the aggressors invaded in early autumn.

We take on the role of a young student in the game, separated from his loved ones. Facing danger from both aliens and hostile humans, the protagonist must leave the city and embark on a journey to the eastern edge of the Russian Empire.

Gameplay

In The War of the Worlds: Siberia we view the action from a third person perspective (TPP). As we explore locations and accomplish the quests set before us, we gradually push the story forward, and also get to know various characters. Some of them turn out to be allies, while others - quite the opposite.

We often have to solve environmental puzzles, rely on stealth, fight hand-to-hand or even resort to using weapons. While we can deal with hostile humans, stealth is essential to avoid encounters with the alien invaders. Their tripods (giant robots on three long legs) patrol the locations and abduct anyone who gets within reach of their tentacles.

As for the weapons at our disposal - we can objects like sabers, black powder pistols, the Maxim machine gun, and even explosives.
