The production was created by Soho studio, responsible for such titles as Spice World and both installments of The Getaway series. The game was well-received by fans of the genre, giving rise to the series which, between 1999-2004, was released on PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.

The gameplay during the matches is characterized by considerable fluidity, making it a solid alternative to ISS Pro (now known as Pro Evolution Soccer) series available on the same hardware platform. The official licenses allowed the creators to put 230 original teams and 20 authentic tournaments into production.
