The main cons of the game

  • Learning Curve: Some players mention a steep learning curve, particularly for those who jump into harder modes without prior experience, leading to initial frustration.
  • Resource Management Issues: There are complaints about bottlenecks in resource generation, especially logs, which can slow down gameplay significantly. Players often find themselves waiting for resources to become available.
  • Clunky Mechanics: The management of districts and the need for extensive micromanagement can be overwhelming for some players, making the gameplay feel tedious at times.
  • Lack of Challenge: While some players enjoy the relaxed pace, others feel that the game lacks sufficient challenges, especially in later stages, leading to a sense of stagnation once basic needs are met.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to s

  • Quality of Life Improvements: Players desire features like auto-pausing buildings when resources are scarce, the ability to select multiple buildings for management, and better management tools for districts.
  • Cosmetic Options: s have noted the absence of cosmetic items or customization options for their beaver colonies, which could enhance personalization and creativity.
  • Diagonal Stairs and Platforms: Some players expressed a need for more building options, such as diagonal stairs, to facilitate more complex designs.
  • Endgame Content: There is a call for more defined goals or objectives to strive for in the late game, as players feel that the gameplay can become aimless after reaching a certain level of stability.
  • Improved Tutorials: New players have indicated the need for better tutorials or guides, particularly regarding complex mechanics like water management and dealing with bad water events.

Summary

  • Overall, Timberborn is well-received for its innovative approach to city-building and resource management, though there are areas where players feel improvements could be made to enhance the overall experience.
