Tin Hearts is an original puzzle game in which we guide toy soldiers through dangerous locations. The title was created with virtual reality technology in mind. Rogue Sun, an independent debut studio, is responsible for its creation.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Tin Hearts is a bit like what we know from the popular Lemmings series. The player watches the marching characters and their task is to lead the soldiers safely to their destination by interacting with the environment. What makes Rogue Sun's production unique is the for virtual reality technology - thanks to it, the player has the impression that they are really in a given place and physically touches objects.

GamesCreed: 4.3 / 5 by Junior Onunkwo

The magical and emotional story, along with the puzzles and the Christmas-themed designs, is something that any child will love. But as an adult, Tin Hearts can definitely make you feel like a kid again. But I’m not so keen on that. It looks like once you’ve started the story, you cannot start over the game until you’ve finished the entire campaign. This isn’t necessarily a problem worth stressing, but for a few reasons, you might want to start from the beginning, regardless of how far you progress.

Screen Rant: 3 / 5 by Ben Brosofsky

For players willing to overlook these issues (along with a strange amount of shoddy textures), the pleasures of Tin Hearts are readily apparent. The soldiers themselves are charmingly designed, and the mechanical satisfaction of marching them toward a solution is appropriately gratifying. Care is also visible in the narrative, which features a number of predictable beats but proves surprisingly willing to deal with heavier emotions and thorny resolutions. Tin Hearts is a game that begs to be loved, but with a bit too much inconsistency across its respectable runtime, it might be best for it to settle on being liked.

Tin Hearts is the adorable, and poignant spiritual successor to Lemmings you never knew you needed.
