Tom Clancy's EndWar, a game signed by the famous writer's name, is an RTS by Ubisoft Shanghai. The plot of Tom Clancy’s EndWar is set in the year 2020 and tells the story of a fictitional conflict between the USA, the EU, and Russia, which sprang from the competition for resources and dominance in space, as well as an attempt to topple the balance of power which had been established between the East and the West.
Tom Clancy's EndWar is a real time strategy game created by Ubisoft Entertainment Studios, promoted with Tom Clancy’s name. The entire game development process was overseen by Michael de Plater, previously responsible for Total War series.
The story takes you to the year 2020 into a raging conflict between three parties: USA, Europe, and Russia. The war was triggered by a terrorist attack on an American cosmic station Freedom Star, although the real cause is the military rift between the East and the West resulting from USA’s heavy development of ballistic missile defense, which lowered effectiveness of nuclear warheads. Besides, the growing rivalry between America and Europe in cosmic space militarization, and the fact that Russia holds the most key natural resources (e.g. oil) also proved significant.
Before starting the game, you get to choose one of the aforementioned sides of the global conflict. The gameplay consists of two phases. In the first one, you give commands on a tactical map presenting global changes in power, like in a board game called Risk. Here you move around your military forces, watch the fronts, etc. Another game phase is real time battles. You get to command infantry soldiers, tanks, helicopters, and artillery. A significant role is played by satellite relays, which give an array of possibilities to those who control them. Battles are fought both in countryside and large cities (e.g. in Paris, with its landmark buildings, such as The Eiffel Tower), so you have to adjust your strategy to battle conditions.
Although battles against AI are fun, the pinnacle is multiplayer gameplay. A huge-scale campaign takes a form of a metagame ongoing live and you can actively your chosen faction at any moment. It is noteworthy that the game s voice commands (these are short and easy to ).
