Dynamic car races in which the action is observed from a bird's eye view. The manufacturer took care of exceptionally twisted route designs. An extensive multiplayer is also worth mentioning.
Top Gear: Downforce is a simple racing game where fun is paramount. It is therefore not a realistic product, which can be seen both on the example of the simplified to the limits of the driving model, as well as the exceptionally twisted routes on which the next competitions are held. Australian development studio Tantalus Interactive is responsible for the preparation of this game. In the past, the company has already released several games in the genre, including Top Gear Rally and Monster Truck Madness (both on GBA). This time it was decided to prepare a product for the owners of the Nintendo DS console.
In the championship mode prepared by the manufacturers we take part in a series of races, taking part in a dozen or so different routes. Most of the races are held on asphalt sections, although there were also facilities located in less frequented locations. Route designs are one of the strongest points of Downforce. They are filled with various abbreviations and alternative paths that can be used. In addition, the player must take into the presence of various types of obstacles. These are both standard objects (other vehicles, barriers), as well as much more difficult to by the phenomenon, such as tornadoes raging over the route. What is interesting, the manufacturer took care of the possibility of setting up these disturbances by hand, using the console's touchscreen for this purpose.
The player can choose between six standard vehicle designs, but they can be customised to suit their appearance. Cars differ not only in of body design, but also in of performance. At the same time, the aggressive AI of the opponents, who of course try to overtake the player at any cost, have been taken care of. In addition to the singleleplayer, there is also a complex multiplayer for four people. Interestingly, only a single copy of the game is enough to play. Visually Downforce falls out relatively moderately. Of course, the most beautiful were the vehicle models. It looks worse for the environment.
