A very well-made hack-and-slash game, created by a small studio Runic Games, whose contributed to such productions as Hellgate London, Mythos or the Diablo franchise. The story begins in the eponymous village of Torchlight, under which large deposits of a magical ore called ember have been discovered. However, the sudden mining boom resulted in another discovery, this time of a great evil lurking underground.

Torchlight is a hack ‘n’ slash game created by Runic Games, a small development studio from Seattle. Though it is their debut production, the team have previously worked on such titles as Hellgate: London, Mythos and the Diablo series.
The game’s story is not particularly unique, which should not be surprising to the fans of the genre. The adventure in Torchlight starts in a small village where a huge deposit of Ember has been discovered. As you might guess, the miners dug too deep, and by doing so, they unearthed a great evil. This is where our character comes into the picture. The player’s task is to go through 34 levels of dungeons, killing hordes of enemies on his way, and to defeat the evil Odrak.
The developers gave three completely different character classes at our disposal: Alchemist, Destroyer and Vanquisher. Each of those has four traits, three skill trees and lots of items to find. They can also have an animal companion that proves helpful not only in combat but also by carrying our inventory and selling stuff to the traders in the village.
The graphic style of Torchlight is nowhere near that of the Diablo series. Both the dungeons and the opponents are very colorful, which is not necessarily to everyone’s liking. Blizzard’s fan should not be disappointed with the soundtrack, though, as it was composed by Matt Uelmen, the composer of the musical scores of Diablo, Starcraft and World of Warcraft.

A series of hack'and'slash style action RPG games set in fantasy realities. The brand was created by Runic Games studio, founded, among others, by former employees of Blizzard Entertainment (Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer and Peter Hu). The series is sometimes considered by many players as the "spiritual heir" to the game Diablo II.
We got to know the games that you can pick up in July as part of the Games with Gold service. Among them we will find a strong rival to the Diablo series and something for Portal fans.
