A rail shooter that is one of the PlayStation 1 starting titles. In Total Eclipse Turbo, we sit at the helm of a futuristic fighter and fight against the sinister Drak-Sai race, which intends to lead to a premature supernova sun. The action is observed from the camera following the ship, and the struggle takes place both over the surface of the four planets, as well as in their underground tunnels.
Total Eclipse Turbo is a rail shooter developed by Crystal Dynamics. The title appeared on PS1, for which it was one of the titles prepared for its American launch (it was released along with such games as Rayman or Ridge Racer).
In Total Eclipse Turbo the action takes place in 2099 when the Solar System found itself on the target of the hostile Drak-Sai - an alien civilization that plans to prematurely our star as a supernova. During the game we play as a pilot of a futuristic fighter called FireWing, and our task is to thwart the plans of the invaders.
In Total Eclipse Turbo the action is observed from the third-person perspective. Twenty missions await completion, both above the surface of four planets and in their underground tunnels. During the game we sit at the controls of the aforementioned ship, which can be maneuvered vertically and horizontally, tracking opponents and avoiding terrain obstacles and countless traps (we have no influence on its flight direction).
We eliminate enemies using a cannon and a bomb launcher. In addition, power-ups have been placed on the maps, which not only regenerate the fighter's shields and replenish ammunition, but also increase our combat capabilities. It is thanks to them that we can change the cannon for another type (they differed in of firing speed, spread and amount of damage inflicted) and increases the level of our weapons, which significantly increases they firepower.
Total Eclipse Turbo features three-dimensional visuals. Compared to the 3DO version, the edition coming to PS1 boasts a higher frame rate.
