Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a combination of a platformer and a puzzle game, as well as a new installment in a series developed by Frozenbyte since 2009. The game features plenty of humor, colorful 2.5D visuals and an atmospheric soundtrack.
The game is set in a fantasy world inspired by medieval times. Once again, it tells the story of three heroes tasked with saving the land. Pontius the Knight, Amadeus the Wizard and Zoya the Thief forces to deal with a mechanical army and stop a mysterious conspiracy from creating a new kingdom, one with no place for magic or heroes.
Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy features twenty colorful locations, such as fabled forests, palaces, mines, sky platforms or underwater buildings. We'll face new, mechanical enemies such as knights, monsters and clockwork bosses. During combat and exploration we'll have plenty of opportunities to use our heroes' special abilities, between whom we can freely switch.
Pontius is great in direct combat, can use his shield to reflect rays of light or stick his sword into walls to make it a springboard. Amadeus can lift objects or create magical chests and bridges. Zoya fights from a distance with her bow, but can also open the way to inaccessible places with her grappling hook.
Over time, our heroes gain experience, letting us develop their skills or purchase new ones. We can thus improve the wizard's range or equip our thief with ice arrows to freeze parts of the environment, making exploration and puzzles easier.
Just like in the series' previous installments, the campaign of Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy can be completed in singleplayer and co-op for up to three people, on shared screen or online. The developers have adjusted the puzzles' difficulty to the number of players.

Game Ratings for Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy Video Game.
CGMagazine: 7.5 / 10 by Jordan Biordi
Despite feeling a bit more streamlined and simplistic than its predecessors, Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is another solid entry into the franchise.
Metro GameCentral: 7 / 10
A highly competent platform puzzler that's starting to play things a little too safe, especially as it refuses to address long-standing issues like the bland combat.
Shacknews: 9 / 10 by Larryn Bell
Although I did experience some technical issues during cutscenes, like screen-tearing and occasional audio glitches, the rest of the journey went off without a hitch. The comedic story and dialogue are delivered with just the right amount of wit and whimsy, with zany characters that are brought to life with solid vocal performances. While the combat leaves some room for improvement, the dynamic puzzles, inventive hero skills, and visual splendor more than make up for its minor shortcomings. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Trine series or simply have a penchant for co-op puzzles and are looking for a new challenge, Trine 5 does not disappoint.
