A racing game, in which the players can test their skills behind the wheel of several meticulouslz recreated cars of the most popular brands. The title is closer to simulation than to arcade games known from gaming salons. The game was developed by Clockwork Games
Vanishing Point enables us to sit behind the wheel of several cars well known from the real world. Available models include Audi TT, BMW 325i, Ford Focus, Jaguar XKR, TVR Cerbera and Toyota Supra. Each of them can be driven on routes located in different sceneries, from mountain es, through wharfs, to urban highways. The races do not take place on closed race tracks, which means that there are also cars that do not participate in the competition.
Vanishing Point offers several game modes. In addition to traditional time trials and tournaments in which the players can unlock hidden cars, the devs have also made available Stunt Driver Mode, which is rare in this type of game. It requires the players to demonstrate specific skills in subsequent tests. Using a specific vehicle assigned to a given task, they must perform breakneck stunts, such as a long jump over a certain distance, making a barrel roll in the air, or show off their driving technique. There is also a mode that enables us to modify the available cars and increase their performance.
The title from Clockwork Games was also released on Dreamcast. Both versions differ mainly in visuals and a different set of vehicles assigned to tasks in Stunt Driver Mode. Techno music plays in the background during races.
