Warlander is an online fantasy action game. It was developed by the Japanese studio Toylogic. The game is free-to-play, though it contains microtransactions. Its creators used to assist other developers with games such as Kid Icarus: Uprising. Warlander is their first major standalone project.
The gameplay in Warlander is shown from the third-person perspective (TPP). The gameplay revolves around waging massive online battles, which up to 100 players at once. The combat system is rather arcade-inspired, letting us make use of melee weapons, ranged weapons, spells, siege machines and even mechs.
There are many different character classes to choose from. Defeating enemies, completing objectives and building machines rewards you with Valor points you can use to enhance your character.
Battles involve either two or five armies, each with their own stronghold. The game ends once only one army has any men remaining. Players can construct war machines and take over enemy watchtowers. When attacking an enemy castle we must first weaken its defenses, destroying walls, gates and bridges.
The game places a strong emphasis on strategic elements - some players act as commanders, while making and breaking alliances is key during five armies battles.
Warlander is only available in multiplayer.
The game's 3D graphics are pleasant to the eye, made with the use of a slightly cartoonish artstyle.

Game Ratings for Warlander Video Game.
MMORPG.com: 4.5 / 10 by Nick Shively
Overall, Warlander just doesn’t do enough to make it feel special or justify its predatory monetization scheme. The first few matches are fun, but once you run into enemies who are objectively more powerful again and again, the fun begins to fade and there isn’t enough variety to keep things fresh.
GameSpace: 6 / 10
Warlander is a rogue-like developed by Clock Drive Games. You play Bruce, a resurrected warrior who is out for vengeance. The game has quite a bit of potential but is held back by clunky controls and small bugs. However, between the precision targeting mechanics and base game loop Warlander does have an addictive quality that keeps me playing.

After a few patches, Warlander may well be able to stand at least in line with other mid-tier roguelites and action adventures, but right now... not so much.
