A text adventure game with RPG elements. Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory allows us to play as Samira - a werewolf refugee finding herself in a crisis situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. She's trying to solve a murder mystery and learn about a local werewolf pack.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory is a text adventure game with RPG elements, set in the World of Darkness universe. The game was developed by the Polish studio Different Tales, which has thematically related Wanderlust Travel Stories from the same genre.
The action of Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory is set in contemporary times, during the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. The main character of the game is Samira, a refugee and werewolf. The protagonist must undertake the task of solving a murder mystery, in which supernatural, dark forces were involved. She must also uncover the secrets of a powerful werewolf pack. How the investigations she conducts will unfold, as well as how her story will end, largely depends on our actions and the choices we make.
When playing Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory we read text descriptions of places and situations in which Samira is, and we make various decisions. Our choices not only project onto the further course of the story, but also in various ways influence the heroine, finding reflection in her health, willpower, anger, skills, susceptibility to harano (a state that can be described as deep depression) or equipment, which she has at her disposal.
The gameplay is based on the rules of the fifth edition of the paper RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Although selected characters and locations from Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest appear in the game, familiarity with that game is not necessary to understand the plot. Additionally, a special dictionary has been implemented in the game, created primarily for players unfamiliar with the World of Darkness universe.
The graphic design of Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory consists of two-dimensional illustrations presenting the characters that Samira interacts with, as well as the places and situations she finds herself in.
