Release Date: September 15, 2022
A point-and-click adventure game with a non-linear story, set in a world full of magic and supernatural elements. Whateverland was created and released by independent Caligari Games studio.
Whateverland is a point & click adventure game that has an extensive storyline and allows the player to make choices that shape the story. The game takes place in a world with supernatural elements, such as magic or other dimensions. The game also offers several original gameplay solutions. An independent team Caligari Games (known for its interesting adventure game The Great Perhaps) is responsible for its development and release.
In Whateverland, you play as Vincent, a thief who tries to steal a precious necklace from the estate of an elderly woman named Beatrice. Unfortunately, the situation gets very complicated - the old lady turns out to be a powerful witch and the hero is caught in the act. As part of his punishment, the protagonist is sent to the title Whateverland, a kind of prison inhabited by the witch's enemies. Vincent teams up with some weirdo - Nick - and tries to find a way out of a strange country.
Whateverland is a two-dimensional point & click adventure in which we observe the action from different perspectives (although mostly is a side-scrolling). We explore locations, talk to characters, look for objects and solve puzzles.
The choices also play an important role - the story is not linear, and our decisions affect its further form (the developers have prepared several different endings). What's important is that it concerns not only to dialogues, but also gameplay - because Vincent is a thief, the player has an option to steal from the characters he meets, which of course can affect how they treat him.
In production, we will also find several mini-games that add variety to the gameplay, and even a "turn-based, strategic sports simulator".
In Whateverland, we can only play alone. The basis of the game is a feature campaign.
Whateverland has interesting two-dimensional graphics. It consists mainly of hand-drawn illustrations and animated character models, which are additionally superimposed with special effects (such as smoke or light). The game is designed in an intriguing, fairy-tale style that evokes associations with illustrated children's books - at the same time, the game has a rather gloomy atmosphere. All of this, of course, can be enjoyable.
The original, atmospheric soundtrack, recorded with the use of the saxophone and other instruments, also makes a good impression.

Game Ratings for Whateverland Video Game.
VGChartz: 4.5 / 10 by Lee Mehr
The "whatever" part in Caligari Games' sophomore title initially suggests boundless wonders, but is more akin to someone shrugging their shoulders by the end.
TechRaptor: 4 / 10 by Courtney Ehrenhofler
Whateverland's fun premise and protagonist duo are overshadowed by bugs, poorly designed puzzles and shallow characters in a move that makes us say "whatever."
Impulsegamer: 3.8 / 5 by Gareth Newnham
Idiosyncratic, compelling and creative, Whateverland is a one trip this stranger in strange land would heartily recommend.
