White Album: Memories like Falling Snow is the remake of a popular visual novel from the 1990s. It tells the story of a young man dating a popular singer, showing how her developing career affects their relationship.
White Album: Memories Like Falling Snow is a remake of an iconic Japanese 1998 adventure game. Both the original game and the remake were developed by the Japanese studio Leaf, part of the Aquaplus company, also known for the Utawarerumono series.
The game's protagonist is Toya Fuji, a Japanese university student. He doesn't really stand out from his classmates, except for one thing - his girlfriend, singer Yuki Morikawa.
As her career grows, the couple starts having less time to spend together. It's up to the player whether their relationship will survive or fall apart.
White Album: Memories like Falling Snow is an adventure game, a cross between a visual novel and a dating sim.
Most of our time is spent following the story, occasionally making decisions that shape it. Alongside the standard visual novel features, there are also some slight simulation mechanics. At the beginning of each week, the player must plan out what the main character will do in the coming days, affecting which events he takes part in, as well as his relationships with various characters.
The game's narrative is branching, with our actions influencing which direction it will head in. We must, therefore, play the game multiple times to see all it has to offer. Though we start off the game in a relationship with Yuki Morikawa, there are also four other romanceable girls, each with their own storyline.
White Album: Memories like Falling Snow is only playable in singleplayer.
The game features simple, yet appealing 2D visuals consisting mainly of static images. The remake's graphics were created anew from scratch, while the character designs have been modernized.
