Created by Origin in 1990, Wing Commander set new paths for the development of space simulators. This was not only due to the use of modern graphics and music techniques (it was one of the first games to use VGA mode and was optimized to work with Sound Blaster cards). but mainly due to the interesting plot and diversified combat missions. We start the game as a beginner pilot, who immediately after graduating from the academy is dragged into the whirlwind of the cosmic war with the Kilrathi race. We start our service on the flagship of TCS Tiger's Claw confederation, operating in the Vega sector, where theoretical preparation will have to face the ruthless enemy of mankind.

The main advantage of the fight itself was the innovative introduction of winged, modelled on military aviation. While performing the mission we are no longer left to ourselves, but we are accompanied by , with which you can communicate and give simple commands, such as attack my target, attack any target, return to the base, etc. The missions are diverse: some require the elimination of all enemies in the sector, others attack larger cruisers or transporters, while others will force us to protect our own convoys. This requires careful preparation for each mission, the selection of the right ship and the use of its assets in combat. Most importantly, the plot of the game is not linear - the war with Kilrathi can be won, but also lost. The way in which we carry out our mission will be of great importance for the further course of the war.
