World of Demons is a slasher action game based on a free-to-play model. The production is set in a fantastic version of medieval Japan and allows you to play the role of a samurai, who by means of a skill-based combat system fights battles with supernatural beings. The defeated enemies can recruit and train them to him in later battles.
World of Demons, available on iOS and AND, is a mobile action game. The game is available in a free-to-play model with microtransactions and was developed by PlatinumGames, a Japanese studio known for such titles as Bayonetta series.
The game is set in a fantastical version of medieval Japan. Its plot revolves around the conflict between samurais and yokai, supernatural beings from Japanese folklore, which in World of Demons were contaminated with evil by Oni demons.
The authors took full advantage of the classic eighteenth-century encyclopedia of local myths and beliefs, whose author was Toriyama Sekien. Thanks to that, we can broaden our knowledge about the mythology of this country.
World of Demons, released on iOS and AND, is an action hack'n'slash game, similar to the console productions by PlatinumGames studio. However, the mechanics have been adapted to the touch screens. The fights with yokai are played in small arenas and the player has full freedom of movement around them. Attacks are automatically triggered when our warrior is close enough to the opponent.
Despite this automation, the player has to put a lot of effort to achieve victory. The key role is played by the correct positioning of the character and the manual activation of the dodges, which, when done perfectly, give us the opportunity to lead out an attack finishing the enemy. The fun is made more attractive by several playable characters to choose from.
In World of Demons, we can face various types of yokai. Every defeated enemy can be recruited and then trained to help us in battles. We also send magical beings trained in the same way against other players, although we do not take part in such battles personally - our spirits are controlled by artificial intelligence.
The game makes a very good impression with its graphic design, which, although three-dimensional, looks like taken from old Japanese drawings. This style, as well as reliance on the folklore of this country, immediately evokes associations with Okami. This is not a special surprise, as many veterans who developed this classic have also worked on World of Demons.
