Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Mechanics

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is built on the foundations of the previous installment of the series, but the game also introduces a lot of novelties. We get an action RPG, in which the fun comes down mainly to exploring the world, performing tasks, developing characters and, above all, fighting hordes of enemies.

The battle system is dynamic and requires high dexterity, offering a wide variety of attacks, maneuvers, and special skills. Adol is accompanied by a rich gallery of characters. At any given moment we can directly control only one member of the team, but the game enables us to freely switch between the characters.

What is new is the fact that among the of the party there are people belonging to the aforementioned Monster group. Each of them has a unique set of supernormal abilities, enabling them to, for example, run on walls or turn into a shadow. In addition, the city of Baldeux is very vertically developed and the game makes great use of it, enabling us to climb the roofs of buildings. In addition to the arsenal of actions available to the characters, there is also magic levitation, used not only for transport but also to launch attacks from the air.

Game modes

Just like the previous installment of the series, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox only enables us to play alone in campaign mode.

Technical aspects

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox features nice three-dimensional visuals, created in a style reminiscent of anime.
