US video game developer and publisher 2K has announced that its platform has been hacked and used to spam customers with fake emails that contained malware in the links. The goal was most likely to steal players' private data.
In addition, the company advised people who may have opened one of the dangerous links sent by the hackers to take immediate steps to mitigate the potential threat.
2K added that the website has been disabled while the publisher investigates and contains the incident. The company said it will issue a statement to inform players when it will be possible to technical staff again.
Unfortunately, this is another security breach of companies under the wing of Take-Two in recent times. It's hard to tell if the attacks are related.
2K Games is a developer and publisher with a thriving gaming business. Thanks to it, we received such works as the series NBA, Mafia and Borderlands. Also soon to be released will be Marvel's Midnight Suns, which Firaxis Games is working on.
