GTA 6 for 100 bucks or even more? Analyst says Take-Two has good reason to set a precedent

Another industry analyst believes that GTA 6 could be priced at least $100. According to him, as an incentive, players will receive a lot of currency for the GTAO module.

The discussion about the price Take-Two will set for the publisher of Baldur’s Gate 3 compared Rockstar Games to sheriffs who could establish a "new law." Now, another industry expert has shared his forecasts, but his past failed predictions cast a shadow over them.

100 dollars or more

Michael Pachter is the managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities. This week he discussed Take-Two's plans for the release of GTA 6 (via VGC), where he stated that the title could be priced at even 100 dollars or more. To encourage players, they will be given a substantial amount of currency for the online mode.

We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point, and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online.

The analyst notes that "the precedent for integrating an online game experience with a game" ensures better sales. He gave the example of Call of Duty: Mobile, which led to a 40% increase in sales of the main installments.

In Take-Two's case, we think a successful integration of GTA Online and GTA VI can lead to a $100 price point for the game.

Nonetheless, Pachter's reputation among players isn't very strong, owing to many inaccurate predictions that have frequently been highlighted to him. This should be kept in mind in the context of today's news.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released this fall, which was recently reconfirmed by Take-Two. At the moment, the title is heading exclusively for PS5 and XSX/S consoles.
