Community is trying to figure out GTA 6's plot a year before its release. Second trailer provides strong evidence ing dark theory about Jason
Players have come up with clues suggesting the true identity of GTA 6's Jason, and their theories also point to possible motives for his actions.

The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI and a bunch of new info from Rockstar Games have sparked a ton of theories about the game's plot. And there will probably be even more as the release date gets closer. One of the more popular ones concerns Jason, the main protagonist.
Undercover cop
We know that Jason Duval is a guy who grew up around "shady characters," and after a short stint in the military, decided to work for drug smugglers. However, there are reasons to believe that the protagonist might be more than just a criminal - he could be an undercover cop.
The first evidence of this is the scene from the trailer, in which Jason picks up Lucia from prison. When he arrives at the place, the guard seems to recognize him. Of course, it could be because Jason has served time before or visited Lucia. However, it is not excluded that the guard knew him from his work in law enforcement.
Next, there is a short scene in which one of the gangsters accuses Jason of being a cop, followed by shots with a man resembling someone like the head of the police department. At one point, he says the words: "We, cops, must each other," to a person with their back turned to the camera.
It's worth noting that in each installment of GTA, the story is usually told from the perspective of the main characters. They're usually near the scenes being presented, so one of the playable characters should also be close to this conversation.
It was also noticed that one of the cops from the first trailer of GTA 6 resembles Jason seen in the new graphics. Both are wearing a white shirt, a cap with the brim turned backwards, and a bulletproof vest.
Motives
Some players think that Jason isn't a real cop, he just works with the police in some way. For instance, he may participate in raids on drug bases indicated by the police captain, in exchange for giving up part of the loot.
It's also possible that Jason is being blackmailed by officers who have information that is inconvenient for him or something that matters to him. One theory is about Jason and Lucia's child, and it's ed by Lucia's biography, which mentions her going to jail for "fighting for family." Furthermore, Rockstar used a similar theme in Red Dead Redemption.
In this scenario, the police captain and his unit would be the main bad guys in the game, and there would probably be a classic theme of betrayal, typical for the series.
We will find out everything on May 26, 2026, when Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on PS5 and XSX/S.
