After fixing XP and servers, Splitgate 2 devs need to focus on crossplay
Despite the fact of having crossplay disabled in Splitgate 2, you can still encounter players from other devices. It is a bug and should be addressed soon. Here you will learn more.

It is said that the first impression is the most important aspect when forming an opinion. If that’s indeed the case, then underdelivered on launch, hardly anyone could give it a try. The situation with the servers is improving, though, and XP problems have also been addressed, yet crossplay malfunction appears to be still present, and it’s important for many players. What is going on? Let’s try to get a full picture.
Crossplay issues in Splitgate 2 explained
Splitgate 2 has suffered due to server infrastructure issues on the launch date, which has been mostly fixed, as for the time of writing this article. Also, XP problems seem to have been addressed for the most part, yet the Steam reviews remain unchanged leaving the game at around 50% of positive , which classify it as mixed. It appears to be justified also from console players’ side as there is still crucial functionality for them that still is not working as it should – crossplay.
While this setting is generally favourable and welcome, especially for coop productions, there are instances where some fans would rather keep it disabled. While both, mouse plus keyboard combo and gamepads have their advantages and disadvantages, some players have their doubts about competing on the same ground while using different input devices. That’s why having crossplay not enabled makes it fairer and more fun for many. However, there are players who report that it’s currently not working in Splitgate 2.
On production’s official Discord server, we can see that there are messages from fans, which report that the crossplay toggle in the menu is not working, or rather – the feature works no matter whether it’s on or off. Although, the developers from 1047 Games studio are aware of this issue, they have a ton of work on their hands. Once they address those pain points, we can count on having crossplay problem looked into. It is uncertain how long it will take, so we should stay patient and the devs as much as we can, as otherwise Splitgate 2 appears to be an interesting entry in the FPS genre.
Additionally, it is worth keeping in mind that despite avoiding Early Access program on Steam, the title is technically in its open beta period. This means that issues are expected, and this is exactly the time for them to be ironed out. While the creators are doing their best to get the situation under control, let’s be patient with them, as they have trusted us with something that they hold dear and want to cherish with us. Let’s believe that after the dust settles, we will be left with a competent, non-predatory free-to-play production that will give us joy and excitement for the years to come.
