Disenchanting in PoE
Disenchanting is a new feature which allows players to gather a fresh resource in PoE - Thaumaturgic Dust. To start changing your items into this currency, you have to acquire level 5 in Recruitment. It will allow you to Disenchant and Recombine items.
Of course, the rarer the item is, the more Thaumaturgic Dust you will get. It is advised to upgrade Disenchanting to level 2 as soon as possible because it will allow you to process Rare items. Of course, the best results are from dismantling Unique gear, but it will require you to progress the feature up to max rank (11).
How to get Thaumaturgic Dust fast in PoE
The only way to get Thaumaturgic Dust is to dismantle items through Disenchanting. The most profitable items are of course Unique ones. Many players believe that Tier 1 (T1) Uniques is the most optimal way of acquiring the currency, as each item is worth hundreds of thousands TD. Of course, if you decide to sacrifice T0, you can earn even millions. If you don’t know how to estimate tiers of your Uniques, PoE Wiki has a great site which lists them.
How to use Thaumaturgic Dust, Shipping explained
Thaumaturgic Dust is a very versatile resource. It can be used in recombination, upgrading your town and shipping. In the first two cases, the resource is a hard currency, you have to pay to upgrade your gear or build new ranks of your buildings. The shipping is more interesting though.
In the case of shipping, Thaumaturgic Dust makes your shipment more valuable. It has some obvious perks, as better rewards but that it will be connected to a higher risk. So, calculate carefully.
How much Thaumaturgic Dust should you send with ships though? If you start your adventure with the league, we recommend around 50. It is still not much but will bring a nice profit boost. Later into the game, most players send around 500 – 8000 units of Thaumaturgic Dust (around +150%-200% of original worth). Anything above it is not very economical.
