Elden Ring's PC Anti-cheat Gives Hope for Cheater-free Fun

There's a chance that the PC edition of Elden Ring will make life a little harder for compulsive cheaters. It has been confirmed that the game will use Easy Anti-Cheat, known from Apex Legends, among other titles.

On Elden Ring's tab on Steam it has been reported that the game will use the Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) security. This was first reported by u/hzy980512 on Reddit.

The EULA mentions that the EAC has been integrated into the game to run automatically. Of course, the app will collect and analyze information to help detect cheaters.

This information can be welcomed as the Dark Souls series has always has problems with cheaters, especially on PC. Easy Anti-Cheat probably won't eliminate them completely, but one can hope that it will at least somewhat reduce their numbers and/or options.

Fans have their doubts, however, because the same protection is used by a bitter example of them "dropping " for a game.

One can also wonder if From Software has solved the problem of the vulnerability that enabled hackers to break into players' computers through competitive modes in Dark Souls games. This is because there is nothing EAC can do about that. For now, the studio has disabled PvP features in all PC titles while it investigates the exploit.
