Every Nintendo Switch 1 game with an upgraded Switch 2 version
Today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct revealed a handful of games that will receive upgraded versions on the new console, from full DLC to minor features.

There are a handful of Nintendo Switch games that will be receiving upgraded editions for the Switch 2. Every game on this list is getting graphical upgrades thanks to the new hardware. Up to Game Chat features.
Every Switch 1 game getting a Switch 2 upgraded version
With Pokémon Legends: Z-A, having a separate version for the new console. We now know that both games, and a few more, will be getting those versions.

Super Mario Party Jamboree
Super Mario Party Jamboree is the latest edition in the long-running multiplayer series and was the first game in Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct to share news about its Switch 2 upgrade. This upgrade is perhaps the most significant, including a Switch 2 exclusive DLC: Jamboree TV. This expansion includes Bowser Live, a new game show-themed experience with 2v2 team battles and physical challenges. The new Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will actually put players in the game, either just their face to represent which character they are playing or their full body as they attempt to complete a mini game.
Carnival Coaster is another play mode that makes full use of the mouse controls. Work as a team to take out classic Mario enemies using the mouse controls as you zoom down the track of a roller coaster. Whenever you enter a tunnel, it’s time for a mini game. This upgrade can be purchased along with the full game, or as an add on to s who already have the base game. Jamboree TV launches on July 24th, just a month and a half after the Switch 2 on June 5th.
Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom
It might not come as a shock to anyone that two of the most well received and popular games from the original Switch, would get some great treatment on the Switch 2. Tears of the Kingdom will both receive upgraded versions for the new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 versions boast improved visuals, utilizing the new console’s higher frame rates, better resolutions, and HDR. Players who have already played on the original Switch will also be able to transfer their save files to the new console. On the Switch 2, players can create two manuals saves, allowing them to start a new game without losing access to their first playthrough.
The Switch 2 version of both Legend of Zelda titles will also utilize an update to the Nintendo Switch mobile app. Zelda Notes will have a selection of apps that can help players navigate or enjoy the game with friends. The Navigation app will give players a tool to find hidden shrines or koroks. Hopefully this will help reduce the number of Reddit posts with 99% completion looking for that one last korok on the massive open world maps. A Voice Memories app will also provide extra stories and details tied to certain locations that weren’t found in the original versions of the games. Players will also be able to share their Tears of the Kingdom creations using a QR code. There are plenty of other great apps to explore too.
Of all the upgrades, these two games are the only ones that can be accessed for free by anyone subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. At the time of writing, all other upgrades are purchased separately, either with the full game or as a paid add on. These upgrades to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will become available on the same day as the Switch 2, on June 5th.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
On the Nintendo Switch 2, along with the visual upgrades, Kirby and the Forgotten Land players can gain access to a new DLC titled Star-Crossed World. This DLC includes a new story to experience, where Kirby must explore the fallout of a mysterious crystal meteor falling from the sky. The strange crystal spreads across the landscape and other objects, even turning normal enemies into new versions.
This wasn’t the only Kirby announcement during today’s Direct either. But that new game still does not have a release date. This DLC and upgrade for Kirby and the Forgotten Land arrives on August 28th, 2025.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
While not much time was spent on we did get a closer look at it last week. Today, it was confirmed that this game would have two versions for each Nintendo console. The Switch 2 version does appear to be the ultimate way to play, but of course, it’s great that this game will be available to the wider audience of Switch 1 owners as well.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will take advantage of two key Switch 2 features. First, as with all these games, it will have upgraded visuals. This game will have two optional modes to play in. Quality Mode at 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second, or in Performance Mode in HD at 120 frames per second. Both modes will be HDR compatible. Second, the Switch 2 version will let the player take advantage of the new Joy-Con’s mouse controls. If that feature works well, it could revolutionize the way first person shooters are played on the Nintendo console. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for this highly anticipated game, other than sometime in 2025.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
As the other Nintendo title confirmed for the Switch 1, it makes sense that Violet did.
At the very least, the Switch 2 should be the ultimate place for Pokémon games this year. We are also still looking forward to learning more about Pokémon Champions, shown during a Pokémon Presents earlier this year. The Pokémon Company might be waiting to share more about this game in one of its Pokémon Presents showcases, so for now we will have to be patient. Pokémon Legends: Z-A doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but it is still planned for some time in late 2025.
