Foundation 1.0 release introduced crashes but developers work hard to fix them
The release of Foundation 1.0 made the game crash for many players. If you are also affected by this issue, here you will find more context.

When a game exits Early Access program, we all expect that it is well tested, matured version of what was only a preview before. However, the 1.0 patch is just another update that fixes many bugs present in the preceding release, with possibility of adding some new ones. It is not a big deal when those freshly introduced errors are minor, yet the problem begins when they cause crashes for a number of fans. That’s the situation surrounding Foundation, a medieval city builder that has left EA just recently. Let’s take a closer look at what is happening and if there are any easy fixes that can be implemented.
Foundation 1.0 crashes explained
The idea behind Early Access is to give players access to an unfinished version of a game, let them play and voice their opinions; and for developers to make adjustments accordingly. It is also time to pay special attention to the technical state of the production. However, creating games is not an easy task and sometimes adding too many features can backfire at the worst time possible. Many Foundations fans complain that 1.0 update has made it crash frequently. What can be done about it?
Sadly, nothing so far. Foundation is not very hardware demanding, but even people with powerful machines are experiencing problems. There are multiple scenarios when the title forces its way to the desktop – during quick saves, after reaching a certain number of villagers, specific shadows settings, opening progression menu, and many others. This shows how inconsistent it is, meaning that there is no clear fix. What is more, it happens to fans who have their drivers updated to the latest available revisions, which suggests it’s not related to that matter.
The good news is that developers are aware of the situation. A few hours ago, they published a first update addressing the problem, which should help at least some people. It is not the end of the road, though. Creators ensure (via Steam) that they will fully dedicate this week to improve stability. So, it appears that as of now, we have to wait until the release of other patches to resolve crashes completely.
