The days of PlayStation 2's greatness are long gone, but the iconic console still has a lot of fans all over the world who are amazing at proving their love for it. Reddit darkwingmod, boasted of building a working, portable version of PS2, called PIS 2, on the forum.

It took him several years to put the project together. The device is based on the Raspberry Pi 2 minicomputer, which loads game files via a SMB server connected to the Ethernet network. We are not talking about emulation but original, working game versions (streamed from the server to the console). On the video posted by the author we can see a list of games that can be played on the device (including Kingdom Hearts.

PIS 2 is equipped with one external memory card slot and one internal slot (hidden in the case), used to mount a card with a copy of Free MCboot, which normally allows you to run non-original copies of games, but in this case, its main purpose is to allow us to run them from the SMB server. The device's battery lasts for 90 minutes of gaming and the console can be charged with a standard PS2 power cord.

If you want to see how exactly the PS2 portable console was created step by step, we invite you here.
